Vonage VoIP Alarm System Monitoring Setup Guide

How to setup your alarm monitoring with Vonage VoIP telephone service.

MyAlarmMonitoring.com supports home or business alarm system monitoring through Vonage VoIP service.  We've put together a quick tutorial on setting up your alarm system to work correctly with Vonage.  Please consult your alarm system manual to find the programming fields referenced below for your specific panel.

  1. Connect your alarm panel to the Vonage router. Note that you will need to install an RJ-11x to ensure that your alarm panel seizes the line properly in an alarm condition.
  2. Program the MAM receiver number and your assigned account number. Receiver number and account number are emailed to you after completing the online order form.
  3. Add a 2 Second Delay. This is done to bypass voicemail notification.
  4. Set primary reporting format to Contact ID. This is the default setting for most panels.  If your panel does not support Contact ID or if Contact ID is resulting in an invalid signal, change primary reporting format to 4+2.
  5. Set Vonage Call Quality to Max. Login to your Vonage.com account, click on 'Features', scroll down to 'Bandwidth Saver' and click configure.  Set the quality to 'highest sound quality' and click submit.
  6. 60 Second Test. Set off the alarm system for at least 60 seconds and we will contact you to confirm our monitoring center received your alarm signal.
